There is "a lot of talk" within WWE about Chris Jericho returning to the company after his contract with All Elite Wrestling expires.

That is according to Dave Meltzer, who also reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that speculation within WWE has suggested Jericho may return at the 2026 Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia.

"Jericho is actually a really big story. His contract is up at the end of the year, or late in the year, and there's certainly been lots and lots of talk about WWE. I know from a WWE standpoint that there is lots of talk there about Jericho. People speculating Royal Rumble. Nobody has officially said anything, nor will anyone officially say anything," Meltzer said.

It was noted the belief amongst many within pro wrestling is "Jericho is inevitably going to be in WWE." The current AEW talent hinted at a return to WWE this week.

Chris Jericho previously performed for WWE across two runs from 1999 until 2018. He was the inaugural Undisputed Champion, and 'Y2J' is also a three-time World Heavyweight Champion and a record nine-time Intercontinental Champion.

Jericho has been a part of All Elite Wrestling since the promotion was founded in 2019 and he was the inaugural AEW World Champion. He re-signed with the company in 2022 and his contract is due to expire at the end of 2025.

Jericho was consistently a featured performer in AEW and Ring of Honor until he stepped away from TV on the post-Dynasty edition of Dynamite in April. Fan sentiment has turned against Jericho, however, and he has often received chants of "Please retire" since Dynasty 2024.
