Reason For R-Truth's WWE Name Change To Ron Killings Revealed

R-Truth made his shocking return to WWE at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view, appearing on the show only six days after he announced he had been released by the company, with it emerging soon after that Truth had been told his contract wasn't being renewed.

The 53-year-old has been billed as Ron Killings as opposed to R-Truth since his return. Dave Meltzer has reported in a F4WOnline Daily Update that Truth asked for the name change to Ron Killings as part of his new deal to return. Meltzer noted that one advantage is Truth can work on WWE TV as Ron Killings and then continue to use the name when he exits the company.

Fightful Select has also reported that a source in WWE management noted Killings had indicated in the past that he wished to have a more serious run before retiring from pro wrestling. Killings has been a comedy character on WWE TV for the past decade.

R-Truth's WWE return came together following the personal intervention of WWE President Nick Khan after Truth initially ignored the company's overtures. Killings was reportedly shocked and disgusted due to the impersonal manner in which he was initially cut by WWE after 20 years with the organisation across two runs.
