Reaction To MJF's "Diddy" Promo Revealed

MJF returned to AEW programming at the back end of 2025, coming back on the Holiday Bash edition of AEW Dynamite in Manchester, England. During his return promo, MJF ripped apart those sharing the AEW World Title picture in Samoa Joe, Swerve Strickland, and Adam Page. During his speech, MJF referenced disgraced musician Diddy, comparing him to Strickland.

“You really remind me a lot of this famous musician. You guys have a lot in common: you both call yourselves moguls, you both rock chains, you both use way too much baby oil, and you’re both dogs**t rappers. The name’s on the tip of my tongue. Oh, that’s right; P. Diddy!”

This prompted an awkward response within both the live crowd and those online, plus a reported feeling of uncertainty within AEW too. Fightful Select have revealed that MJF’s mention of Diddy was not received well by those in AEW, with it said that it wasn’t received well with some people “not happy about it”. Fightful also confirmed Wrestling Observer Live’s report that other talent did not know ahead of time that MJF would make the reference.
