As he nears the end of his 2025 WWE retirement tour it has been said that John Cena wants to ‘make stars’ on his way out of the industry… seemingly why he put over Brock Lesnar in such dominant fashion at Wrestlepalooza.

A biopic about the legendary ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage is in the works, and there is an injury update on Piper Niven. Here’s all the wrestling rumours and reports for September 24 2025.

Much like Batista, Triple H has given John Cena what he wants - a match with AJ Styles. But it’s been reported that Cena wants ‘to make stars’ on his way out of WWE.

Traditionally the way to make stars is for a big star to lose to a perceived ‘lesser star’ or up-and-comer. On his 2025 retirement tour Cena has lost to Jey Uso (in the Royal Rumble) and Cody Rhodes, but his only other defeat has come at the hands of multi-time world champion and WrestleMania headliner Brock Lesnar. With Cena and Lesnar never to battle again it got wrestling fans questioning the point of the bout, with Dave Meltzer saying the following on Wrestling Observer Radio:

"John is very unselfish, and he knows on the way out he wants to make people. He wants to make big stars... A lot of guys, when they're on their way out, their call is to lose and to put the other guy over. And that was John's call.”

A biopic about the legendary Randy Savage is in the works, with Kenan Thompson’s production company Artists for Artists handling the project.

In a report from Deadline, the film - titled ‘Macho’ - stems from a script written by Eric Shapiro and the late Lanny ‘The Genius’ Poffo, Savage’s brother.

In a statement to Deadline, AFA‘s Johnny Ryan Jr. said;

“'Macho Man' Randy Savage was the greatest showman of all time and the OG bad boy of entertainment. His outfits were as electric as his personality and he’s so much more than an artist, he’s an icon. Lanny and Eric did a great job capturing this story and the crazy 80s wrestling era that turned wrestling figures into life long pop culture icons.”

Kenan Thompson added; “Beyond excited for this one!! Macho Man is hands down one of the greatest of all time and can’t wait to bring his story to the screen!!!”

Piper Niven Injury Update

Piper Niven is currently out of action with an injury that was reported to be ‘potentially career threatening’, but a new update has shed some light on Niven’s condition and the severity of her injury.

Whilst Bryan Alvarez had previously reported that Niven’s injury could potentially signal the end of her career, a new report from Fightful states some close to the situation are hopeful of an eventual return for the Secret Hervice member, with it revealed that Niven is currently dealing with a neck injury.

The nature and severity of Niven’s injury has not been disclosed, nor has any potential timetable for recovery, rehab, and hopefully return.
