It was announced on Monday Night RAW this week that reigning Intercontinental Champion Penta would put his title on the line at WrestleMania 42, offering up the chance for several WWE stars to win the gold by hanging it high above the ring in a ladder match. Following qualifying matches on WWE Main Event, the likes of Je’Von Evans, Rusev, JD McDonagh, and Dragon Lee earned their spots in the multi-man ladder match. More has now been learned on some potential plans for the matchup.
According to WrestleVotes on Fightful Select, WWE is reportedly planning to add some more names to the field, widening the current five-man lineup. It is noted that WWE is considering the possibility of adding some names from both Friday Night SmackDown and AAA to the Intercontinental Championship ladder match, though it isn’t currently known who those names would be, and how many of them would be added to the WrestleMania card.
Over the last week there has been plenty of talk about WrestleMania, as it was reported that WWE were aware of some criticism regarding the creative around the United States Title match at WrestleMania involving Sami Zayn & Trick Williams, some booking differences regarding Gunther vs. Seth Rollins, and how many matches are reportedly planned for the WrestleMania 42 card.
