Kenny Omega is now a two-time AEW World Champion, having defeated MJF for the title in the main event of Dynamite Beach Break on Wednesday, July 8.

The finish saw MJF look to use the dynamite diamond ring against Kenny Omega, only for Will Ospreay to sprint down to the ring and stop Friedman from using it. Omega was then going to use the AEW World Title belt as a weapon when referee Bryce Remsburg was distracted, but Omega decided not to, which led to MJF hitting a low blow and belt shot.

Kenny Omega then kicked out at one, however, and proceeded to deliver three V-Triggers and a One Winged Angel for the victory.

After Dynamite went off the air, Omega said to the fans in attendance in Clearwater, Florida:

"There's an old saying that if anyone could be a professional wrestler, if anybody can be a champion so easily, then heck, probably everyone would do it. But the truth is none of this came easy. I could never have done it without the support of the people who are my friends, my family who could have at any point kicked me out of my house and forced me to follow a different dream. But I always had the support, not just of my friends, not just of my family, but my inherited family, and that means each and every one of you.

"Now, I can't lie, holding this belt just doesn't quite seem proper, but holding what it represents, that being the AEW World Championship, that, now that means the world. So, from now until somebody is good enough, someone is willing to sacrifice enough, someone is willing to push hard enough, this right here is going to stay around my waist, I can promise you that. I may be more near the end than I am the beginning of this journey, but what counts is that you finish hard and you finish the race. No matter how hard everything is, you finish the race."

Kenny Omega's AEW World Title win wasn't originally scheduled to take place at Dynamite Beach Break, though. Bryan Alvarez noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that the original plan was for Omega to win the belt from MJF at the Redemption pay-per-view on July 26 in Omega's home nation of Canada.

Previous reports have noted MJF vs. Kenny Omega was planned for Redemption but the match was brought forward in a late change. A second match of 2026 between MJF and Kenny Omega over the AEW World Championship had been planned for at least over three months.

MJF had emerged victorious in their two previous AEW World Title matches before Dynamite Beach Break, defeating Omega on the October 28, 2023 edition of Collision and in the main event of Dynasty 2026.
