Jesse Ventura has been absent from his recurring role on the rebooted WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event series. His voice provided some of the throwback feel to this show as he played as both host and guest commentator on multiple broadcasts. This came after a deal was made to bring Ventura back under the WWE banner with a “Legends” contract.

According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Jesse Ventura is no longer believed to be under a WWE contract. It was believed that Ventura had signed a one year deal with WWE last year, though this would now have expired based on the timeframe, explaining why he was absent from the most recent Saturday Night’s Main Event show. It is noted that his controversial commentary during the Damian Priest vs. Drew McIntyre steel cage match earlier this year is thought to have been the tipping point to WWE lessening his use.

Fightful Select have also followed up on this by stating that his criticisms of matches on the broadcast was part of the “various” reasons as to why he wasn’t used.
