Hulk Hogan is in the process of opening another bar, this time in a location with a deep connection to Hulkamania.
Page Six reported and Hogan has since confirmed that the WWE Hall of Famer is opening a three-floor 9000 sq/ft bar worth $7 million opposite Madison Square Garden. The bar - which will be known as Slam - will be filled with Hogan memorabilia and have screens, including a jumbotron, playing Hogan's greatest moments. The plan is for the new bar to open in the autumn.
Hogan is not a direct owner in the project, with the venue owned by New York nightlife veteran Rich Rosen. Hogan did agree to a licensing deal so the new bar can use his name and Slam will serve Hogan's Real American Beer. The 71-year-old will also reportedly be a regular fixture at the bar.
Hogan became attached to the project after Rosen waited in line at a meet-and-greet and pitched the idea to The Hulkster.
"I basically waited five hours in line to get two seconds with Hulk Hogan. I came with an 8″ by 11″ glossy picture of Madison Square Garden, and in the picture is our [storefront]… I walked up to Hulk, I dropped the picture in front of him, 'That's my [storefront], that's the Garden, and you're my new partner,'" Rosen said.
After handing Hogan his business card, Hulk called Rosen four days later.
Hulk Hogan is synonymous with Madison Square Garden and many of his biggest career moments took place inside the famous arena, including what is considered his official WWE debut, his first WWE Title win, and WrestleMania I.
Hogan already owns his own bar, Hogan's Hangout, in Clearwater, Florida. His Real American Beer brand also recently submitted an offer to buy Hooters, while Hogan launched amateur wrestling league Real American Freestyle earlier this year.
