MJF celebrating his new AEW World Title win on May 2026 episode of Dynamite

Following his successful defense of the AEW World Championship over RUSH on AEW Dynamite, it emerged that MJF had suffered a minor injury, leading to him being removed from an upcoming appearance at Beyond Wrestling (though it was stated by the promotion that MJF had promised to make an appearance when he was healthy). More has now been learned about the seriousness of the injury and how it occurred.

The running belief was that MJF injured his knee when delivering a Tombstone Piledriver on the outside of the ring to his opponent, however Fightful Select have now revealed that this injury occurred when RUSH hit his signature running knees into the corner in what has been described as a “freak accident”. There is reportedly zero heat on RUSH for this incident.

When it comes to MJF’s condition and when to expect him back, it has been noted in this report that the company is still expecting him to appear on weekly AEW programming while the injury is being monitored, suggesting that he is still free and healthy enough to continue travelling.
