Hiroshi Tanahashi's Last Match In The UK Will Be At Forbidden Door

2025 marks the final full year of the iconic Hiroshi Tanahashi’s career in the ring, before the 48 year old hangs up the boots and steps into retirement. Tanahashi will wrestle his final match on January 6 next year at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom in the Tokyo Dome, so this last year has been full of several last time evers for the former multi-time IWGP Heavyweight & Intercontinental Champion. 

Yesterday, NJPW’s president Tanahashi announced that his final ever match in the United Kingdom would be taking place soon - at the upcoming AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2025 PPV, which takes place at the 02 Arena in London, England on Sunday, August 24 in a couple of months. No opponent has been officially announced for Tanahashi as of yet. 

Tanahashi has recently appeared on AEW programming, making a surprise appearance at the Double Or Nothing 2025 PPV, getting the ball rolling on a potential program ahead of the Forbidden Door show. Back in April, Tanahashi wrestled his final ever match in the US, taking on AEW’s Konosuke Takeshita at NJPW’s Windy City Riot event.
