Alberto El Patron has not performed for WWE since 2016, but there has been a push within the company for the former World Heavyweight Champion to be used on the main roster.

Following reports in recent days that noted people in WWE wanted the former Alberto Del Rio to be brought back, sources close to the situation have told Cultaholic that wrestlers within WWE actively pushing for Del Rio's return are Andrade, and Humberto & Angel of Los Garza. Other Mexican wrestlers on the company's roster, and AAA talents, have also pushed for Alberto El Patron to be booked by WWE.

Andrade and El Patron are seemingly friends, with Andrade revealing back in 2018 that Del Rio convinced him to remain a part of WWE when the former La Sombra was considering quitting the company and returning to Mexico. One of Andrade's first matches following his 2021 WWE release also saw the then-Andrade El Idolo face Alberto El Patron and Carlito in a three-way in July of that year. Andrade and El Patron then teamed together against Penta and DMT Azul in September 2021.

While Andrade, Los Garza, and others are pushing for WWE to use the former Alberto Del Rio, sources have told Cultaholic that WWE have no interest in using Alberto El Patron due to his previous "sins" and it is considered highly unlikely that WWE will use him in the future.

El Patron was signed to a contract with WWE in May of 2025, although this was because of his AAA commitments. Efforts have since been made by WWE to distance El Patron from AAA, including booking him to lose the AAA Mega Championship, and a defeat to El Mesias which resulted in Alberto having to leave AAA, at least in storyline.

El Patron performed for WWE from 2009 until 2016 across two runs as Alberto Del Rio. The 48-year-old is a two-time WWE Champion, two-time World Heavyweight Champion, two-time United States Champion, one-time Royal Rumble winner, and one-time Money in the Bank Ladder Match winner.
