El Hijo Del Vikingo is set to face nine months on the sidelines following ACL surgery.

Vikingo injured his knee in late June/early July and was written out of AAA and WWE NXT storylines via a backstage attack angle involving Keanu Carver, with a planned AAA Latin American Title match between Vikingo and EK Prosper scrapped due to Vikingo’s condition.

Per a report from Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the AAA star is expected miss around nine months of ring-time due to the injury, having undergone surgery on July 7 to correct the issue. As a result of Vikingo’s lay-off, AAA have been forced to vacate the Latin American Championship.

Knee injuries are nothing new for Vikingo, with the high-flying luchador having dealt with knee issues throughout his career. During a AAA Mega Championship match against Chad Gable at AAA x WWE When World Collide in June 2025, Vikingo appeared to aggravate his knee, but continued on through the match, defeating Gable to retain his title. Vikingo also suffered a knee injury during a TNA taping in October 2024.
