Another WWE star is headed to Hollywood as Drew McIntyre has been cast in the new Highlander move, in a casting that feels very fitting considering how the Scottish McIntyre has been presented throughout much of his WWE run.
Per Deadline.com, McIntyre has been handed a role in the reboot of action fantasy film Highlander, playing the older brother of Connor MacLeod, Angus. Henry Cavill will be starring in the movie as MacLeod.
Amazon MGM Studios & United Artists now own the Highlander name, handing the movie a reboot with an expected release in mid-2026 or 2027, potentially becoming a trilogy. The original film was released in 1986, followed by various spin-offs and TV series. Also cast in the movie is former professional wrestler turned Hollywood star Dave Bautista, who will be portraying the villain of the movie, Kurgan. Other big names such as Russel Crowe, Karen Gillan, and Djimon Hounsou have been cast.
Other WWE stars Cody Rhodes & Roman Reigns recently went off to film for the upcoming Street Fighter movie. There has always been a history of WWE crossover into Hollywood including the likes of The Rock, Roddy Piper, John Cena, and more.
