After a year on the sidelines, and months of speculation about a potential exit, Chris Jericho made his return to All Elite Wrestling on the April 1 edition of Dynamite.

Interrupting a contract signing between AEW World Champion MJF and contender Kenny Omega, Jeriicho appeared to the familiar refrains of Fozzy’s Judas, clad in a sparkly purple jacket. After soaking in the cheers of his hometown Winnipeg crowd, Jericho picked up the mic and simply said “Winnipeg I’m home” before leaving again.

Reports in late 2025 suggested that the inaugural AEW World Champion’s contract was nearing its expiration, prompting a flurry of speculation that Jericho was set to return to WWE for the Royal Rumble. When no Rumble return happened, rumours continued to swirl suggesting Jericho was still on his way to WWE, but these eventually grew quiet.

In the days leading up to his AEW return, reports suggested that Jericho was not WWE bound at all, and that an AEW return was on the cards. Indeed, AEW President Tony Khan had noted during the rumours that he expected Jericho back in AEW, with it revealed that Jericho’s contract had been frozen in his absence

Jericho’s last appearance in an AEW came in April 2025, with ‘Le Champion’ dropping the ROH World Championship to Bandido at Dynasty 2025. Jericho then dissolved his Learning Tree faction, and exited the company.
