One wrestler in Wheeler Yuta left Australia with much less hair than he travelled to the country with, having lost a Hair vs. Hair match at AEW Grand Slam Australia from Sydney's Qudos Bank Arena on Saturday, February 14.
Yuta teamed with his Death Riders stablemate Marina Shafir to take on Orange Cassidy and Toni Storm in a tag team match with the stipulation that the wrestler who was pinned would have their head shaved. That ultimately proved to be Wheeler Yuta following an Orange Punch from Cassidy followed by a Storm Zero from Toni Storm. Yuta was not shaved completely bald during the broadcast, but he did have the top of his head shaved.
According to Fightful Select, most people within AEW expected it would be Wheeler Yuta who would have his head shaved over Orange Cassidy, Toni Storm or Marina Shafir. Yuta was said to have been a "good sport" about the situation.
How AEW plan to utilise Yuta's bald gimmick is unknown, but a Hair vs. Hair match has previously been used to great effect in future storylines, notably Kurt Angle in 2002 where he wrestled in a wig for several weeks after being shaved bald.
