A Will Ospreay creation will headline All Elite Wrestling's WrestleDream pay-per-view on Saturday, October 17, with the AEW World Champion set to defend the belt in the promotion's first-ever Clockwork Carnage Match.
The new stipulation match was announced on Saturday's episode of Collision, with Tony Schiavone explaining that the match came together when AEW CEO Tony Khan approached Will Ospreay and asked how he would like to defend the AEW World Championship should he successfully defend the title against Kazuchika Okada at Grand Slam France. Will Ospreay then presented the Clockwork Carnage Match, his own spin on the Casino Gauntlet, with the match being made official for WrestleDream.
The AEW Clockwork Carnage rules are as follows:
The first Clockwork Carnage Match took place on October 2 at Pro-Wrestling: EVE Global Thunder Queens Attack, the UK indy promotion where Will Ospreay is also a producer. The match saw Hollie Barlow, Rhio, and Skye Smitson eliminated in the first stage. Kay Lee Ray then outscored Alexxis Falcon, Emersyn Jayne, Lucy Deathmatch, and Molly Spartan in the second stage to win the match overall. The match clocked in at 36 minutes.
Will Ospreay has commented on the Clockwork Carnage Match being introduced to AEW, tweeting: "Clockwork Carnage was such a huge success on @ProWrestlingEVE I wanted to bring the ultimate endurance match to AEW. Opportunity knocks as now we can mix it up with so many different talents & create something completely new in wrestling."
Competitors in the Clockwork Carnage Match will be determined in qualifiers, with Jack Perry vs. Samoa Joe set to be the first qualifying match at Grand Slam France.
How long Clockwork Carnage has been in the works is unknown, but Ospreay noted on Insight with Chris Van Vliet following All In 2026 that he had discussed creating new gimmick matches with Tony Khan.
