Update On When Cody Rhodes Could Make WWE Return

Former WWE Champion Cody Rhodes has not been seen on WWE television since losing his title to John Cena in the main event of WrestleMania 41 (night two).

Cena will have his first title defence at Backlash on Saturday, May 10, when he takes on Randy Orton. It appears as though The American Nightmare may have something to say about the outcome of that match, as he is currently advertised to appear on the May 16 edition of SmackDown, which will take place at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Cody is one of the featured stars advertised for the taping, along with Orton, Tiffany Stratton, LA Knight, Bianca Belair and Solo Sikoa. However, Rhodes being advertised doesn't necessarily mean he will show up. He was previously advertised for the April 25 edition of SmackDown, but did not appear.

Cody is currently enjoying a well-deserved break after his title run ended. The 39-year-old wrestled 101 matches in 2024 alone, the most of anyone on the WWE roster, in addition to his other commitments like media and personal appearances.
