Ridge Holland has been pretty outspoken about WWE over the last month or so, speaking out against the promotion following his firing from the company during the middle of a long-term injury, making him unable to go and compete elsewhere in order to earn money and provide for his family. Holland did walk back on some of these comments, revealing that he was very much in the heat of the moment when his initial social media posts went out to the public. Holland has continued to reflect on his WWE career in the aftermath of all this.
Speaking during a virtual signing with K & S WrestleFest, Holland revealed that the infamous incident with Big E, in which a move from Holland effectively ended the in-ring career of the former WWE Champion, was held against him.
“I felt it a little bit (the Big E injury being held against him). I felt it did affect my career from going forward. I never really got started. I think it probably was a black cloud that was hanging over me, from certain members in the hierarchy. Not mentioning any names but, I think it kind of put a black mark on me going forward and it made it very difficult for me to get past that in the eyes of some people in the company.”
Following Holland’s social media rant, there was reportedly “befuddlement” within the WWE locker room.
