On the back of Survivor Series: WarGames 2025, the belief among many reports is that the mysterious masked man who attacked CM Punk at the end of the men’s WarGames match was Austin Theory, following reports of him originally being planned as a participant in the match as a new member of The Vision.
When it comes to the reasoning why WWE wanted to put Theory in the faction, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has learned more. It is noted that Paul Heyman, the de facto leader of The Vision due to Seth Rollins being booted out of the act, wants to make Theory a star by bringing him into the group. Additionally, it is believed that he is wanted in the faction in order to help protect the likes of Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed by having Theory take the pinfall in matches.
More news was also revealed on the original plans for Survivor Series 2025 that would have seen Theory wrestle in the bout, but plans changed upon Jacob Fatu’s injury. Originally, Fatu was poised to be a member of the babyface team, but his injury led to Cody Rhodes taking his spot instead, with Rhodes’ rival Drew McIntyre taking the spot originally meant for Theory.
