CM Punk will wrestle in Saudi Arabia for the first time when he clashes with John Cena for the WWE Championship at Night of Champions.

Punk and Cena had a confrontation on last night's (June 9) edition of Raw, with Punk interrupting Cena's in-ring promo to declare he was stepping up to the WWE Champion, not for TKO but for the fans.

Punk claimed the WWE Title had corrupted Cena and that after he defeated him for the title, Cena would spend the remainder of his retirement tour apologising for the man he has become. While Punk tried goad Cena into defending his title right there and then, Cena countered that he would do it at Night of Champions, which emanates from Riyadh on June 28.

The match - which is being billed as their final one-on-one meeting - was made official soon after. Their last singles outing took place on the February 23, 2013 episode of Raw, which was notable for Punk performing a banned piledriver during the match.

Prior to making his WWE return in 2023, Punk was outspoken against the company's relationship with the Saudi government and referenced 'blood money' in a tweet to The Miz. Punk and Miz have since buried the hatchet, while the Straight-Edge Superstar recently clarified that he 'doesn't hate' coming to Saudi Arabia.

The 2026 Royal Rumble is set to take place in the country.
