Backstage Reaction To Darby Allin's AEW World Title Reign

At Double Or Nothing 2026, Darby Allin’s 39-day reign as AEW World Champion came to an end at the hands of MJF. Over the last month, Allin has defended his title weekly across AEW programming (and something even bi-weekly), procuring a lot of show-stealers and memorable moments in just a short space of time. AEW’s backstage reaction to Allin’s reign as champion has now been learned, as has MJF’s behind the scenes thoughts on his run with the gold. 

Fightful Select has reported that despite early skepticism to a Darby Allin AEW World Title reign, these opinions have switched into positive ones, with it noted that Allin has been applauded behind the scenes in AEW for “going the extra mile” in making his reign memorable and special, with his in-ring work especially a big point of acclaim. 

When it comes to MJF’s view on the situation, sources claimed that MJF was in support of Allin winning the gold, with this dating back a while. Of course, MJF has taken to social media to deny these claims, stating that he’d laugh if Allin died.
