WWE engaged in their annual post-WrestleMania season cuts last night, releasing 15 wrestlers across both the main roster and NXT that saw Dakota Kai, Braun Strowman, Shayna Baszler, Kayden Carter, Katana Chance, Cora Jade, Gigi Dolin, Eddy Thorpe, Jakara Jackson, Riley Osborne, Oro Mensah, Javier Bernal and Gallus let go from the company.
In the aftermath of these releases, Fightful Select have offered some backstage details surrounding the exits. As expected, main roster talent released have a confirmed 90-day non-complete clause, whereas those in NXT are expected to have a 30-day non-complete clause.
In the case of Dakota Kai’s WWE release, it is noted that she has already received interest from other promotions and top agents in the wrestling world, with it being expected that some big offers will come her way once her non-complete clause has expired. Kai recently revealed she was healthy to wrestle, though WWE had decided against using her in recent weeks.
There were reportedly some shocked faces when it came to Shayna Baszler’s exit, especially as it was revealed late last year that she was ‘universally beloved’, and had drummed up a lot of talk following her performances in Bloodsport. It is also noted by Fightful that she had been helping out a lot in NXT, making her exit even more surprising.
Other details behind the recent releases suggests that those in NXT had at the very least expected Jakara Jackson’s exit, as she and tag team partner Lash Legend had parted ways with one another on recent TV.
